Prepare your favorite recipe for doughnut dough or use doughnut
mix. Roll out 1/4 inch thick. Cut in 6-inch rounds. Place 2 tablespoons
thick, sweetened spiced applesauce in center of each round. Moisten
edges. Fold over and press edges firmly togetherwith tines of fork.
Fry in fat 2 inches deep, heated to 365 degrees F. on frying thermometer.
until puffed and brown. Drain on thick paper towels. Serve with sharp
cheese. Makes finger dessert for buffet and terrace parties.
