Garlic Salad Dressing
Source: Vintage Recipes from Amy Vanderbilt's Complete Cookbook (c. 1961)
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp perpper
2/3 cp olive oil
grated peel and juice 2 lemons
2 cloves garlic, peeled and mashed
1 - Combine all ingredients in jar.
2 - Shake well.
3 - Let stand at least 1 hour.
4 - Remove garlic and discard it.
Makes about 1 cup.
Country Garlic Dressing: Combine 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pep-
per, 1/2 tsp celery salt, 1/4 tsp cayenne, 1/4 tsp dry
mustard. Mix with 2 tbsp cider vinegar, 2 tbsp tomato
juice, and 1/8 tsp Tabasco sauce. Combine with 1 cp salad oil.
Add 1 clove garlic, peeled and mashed. Shake in covered jar. Let stand
1 hour or longer before using. Discard garlic. Makes about 1 1/4 cups
