5 tbsp butter
1 cp sliced mushrooms
1 1/2 cps coarse buckwheat groats
1/3 cp finely chopped onions
salt and pepper
4 cps chicken consomme
1 - Heat 2 tbsp butter in skillet and genly brown mushrooms, stirring frequently.
2 - Transfer to buttered medium casserole.
3 - Add 3 tbsp butter to skillet.
4 - Put in groats and saute over low flame for 10 minutes.
5 - Add onions, salt, pepper and chicken consomme.
6 - Cover and cook 20 minutes stirring frequently.
7 - If kasha becomes dry, add boiling water or consomme.
8 - Turn into casserole containing mushrooms and mix gently with a fork.
9 - Cover and bake (350 degrees F.) until kasha is fluffy but still moist.
