2 medium onions, diced
1 large green pepper,m diced
2 tbsp olive oil or lard
1 cp uncooked rice
3 large tomatoes, diced
3 large potatoes, diced
1 lb uncooked pork and veal, cut into bite-size pieces
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 cps beef stock or water
1 - Cook onions and pepper in hot oil in frying pan.
2 - Remove and brown separately, first the rice, then potatoes, then meat.
3 - In a greased large casserole, put browned onionand peppers, half the tomatoes, potatoes, rice, remaining tomatoes and
finally the browened meat.
4 - Sprinkle salt and pepper between layers.
5 - Pour in beef stock or water, cover and bake slowly (at 325 degrees F.) until all the liquid is absorbed and the vegetables are tender.
6 - Serve hot sprinkled with paprika.
7 - A favorite Yugoslavian stew, frequently baked with fish instead of pork and veal.
