2 cps milk, scalded
2 tbsp melted shortening
1/4 cp molasses
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 cake compressed yeast
6 cps flour
3/4 cp raisins
1 - Combine milk, salt, shortening and molasses.
2 - Cool until lukewarm.
3 - Allow to stand 5 minutes.
4 - Add raisins
5 - Add flour, a little at a time, beating well after each addition, until dough
is just stiff enough to knead on a lightly floured board.
6 - Knead until smooth andn elastic.
7 - Cpver with a warm, damp cloth, and allow to double in bulk.
8 - Knead down, allow to double in bulk again.
9 - Form into loaves
10 - Place in well oiled pans.
11 - Cover and let rise until double in bilk
12 - Bake in hot oven (425 degrees F.) about 45 minutes.
