1/2 cp sugar
1 tbsp shortening
1 egg, well beaten
1 cp sour milk
1 square chocolate, melted
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
4 tsp baking powder
2 1/2 cps flour
1 cp prunes
1/2 cp raisins
1 - Wash prunes, cover with water and boil 10 minutes.
2 - Add 1/4 cp sugar and simmer 5 minutes.
3 - Drain, cool, remove pits and cut prunes in quarters.
4 - Cream 1/4 cp sugar and shortening.
5 - Add egg, milk, and chocolate which have been melted over warm water.
6 - Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
7 - Add to creamed sugar and shortening mixture.
8 - Add fruit and mix until well blended.
9 - Pour into well-oiled bread pan.
10 - Bake in moderaqte oven (375 degrees F.) about 50 minutes.
1 small loaf
If desired a Graham Prune Bread may be made by substituting 1 cp graham flour for 1 cp white flour.
