Apple Breakfaxt Bread
2 cps flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp brown sugar
3/4 cp milk
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp melted butter or butter substitute
4 tsp baking powder
4 tbsp shortening
2 cps chopped raisins
1 egg, well beaten
2 tbsp brown wugar
1 - Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking powder, salt and sugar.
2 - Cut in shortening and add raisins.
3 - Add sufficient milk to which egg has been added to make a stiff dough.
4 - Mix thoroughly.
5 - Pour into well-oiled shallow pan.
6 - Brush dough with melted butter or butter substitute.
7 - Pare, quarter, and core apples and cut in thin slices.
8 - Arrange in rows in the dough, allowing edges to overlap.
9 - Brush apples with more melted butter or butter substitute and sprinkle with
cinnamon and brown sugar which have been mixed together.
10 - Bake in moderate oven (400 degrees F.) 20 minutes or until apples are tender.
