1 medium head cabbage
1 cp ground ham
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1 tbsp cooking fat
1 cp bread crumbs
2 tbsp butter or butter substitute
2 tbsp chopped oniohn
1 egg, well beaten
salt, pepper and cayenne
1 - Soak cabbage in cold salt water 1 hour.
2 - Boil in sufficient salt water to cover it until almost tender.
3 - Drain.
4 - Remove center, leaving 2 layers of leaves.
5 - Shred the portion of the cabbage which was removed.
6 - Add ham, crumbs, onion, parsley, egg, cooking fat, and seasonings.
7 - Pack lightly into cabbage shell.
8 - Tie the leaves tightly to hold the stuffing in place.
9 - Place in roaster.
10 - Baste with butter or butter substitute, which has been combined with 1 cp of water.
11 - Bake in slow oven (350 degrees F.) aboutn 35 minutes.
