1 cp compressed yeast (2 if time is limited)
1 1/2 cps lukewarm water
1/2 cp sugar
1 3/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp cinnamon
1 egg, well beaten
5 cps flour
1 tbsp grated orange peel
3/4 cp chopped raisins
1/2 cp chopped nuts
1/4 cp melted shortening
1 - Soften yeast in lukewarm water
2 - Add 6 tbsp sugar, the salt, melted shortening, and egg.
3 - Aded raisins, orange peel, and flour, beating thoroughly after,
each addition until a soft dough is formed. The dough should
be softer than for bread).
4 - Cover with a warm, damp cloth; allow to double in bulk.
5 - Work down and form into two loaves.
6 - Place in well oiled pans.
7 - Sprinkle with chopped nutsw, cinnamon and 2 tbsp sugar.
8 - Allow to double in bulk
9 - Bake in hot oven (425 degrees F.) 30 minutes.
2 small loaves
