Peppermint Divinity Squares
3 cps sugar
1/2 cp water
1/2 cp white corn sirup
2 egg whites
1 tsp peppermint flavoring
1/4 tsp salt
1 - Combine sugar, sirup, salt, and water.
2 - Cover.
3 - Boil 5 minutes.
4 - Uncover.
5 - Wipe4 sides of pan with damp cloth.
6 - Boil without stirring to firm ball stage (245 - 248 degrees F.).
7 - Remove from fire.
9 - Continue beating until mixture holds its shape when dropped from a spoon.
10 - Add flavoring.
11 - Drop by teaspoonfuls on to waxed paper, or pour into well-buttered pan.
12 - When cold, cut in squares.
13 - If desired, tint the candy with green food coloring when flavoring is added.
