1/2 cp shortening
1 cp sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tbsp milk or cream
1/2 tbsp ginger
grated orange or lemon rind
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 cps cake flour
1/8 tsp salt
1 - Sift flour, measure and sift with baking soda and ginger.
2 - Cream shortening and sugar.
3 - Add eggs and milk or cream
4 - Combine with sifted dry ingredients.
5 - Mix thoroughly.
6 - Add orange or lemon rind.
7 - Chill overnight.
8 - If necessary, add flour to make soft roll dough.
9 - Turn onto lighly floured board.
10 - Roll in sheet 1/4 inch thick.
11 - Cut with floured cutter.
12 - Place on slightly oiled baking sheet.
13 - Sprinkle with sugar and caraway seed.
14 Bake in hot overn (425 degrees F.) about 10 minutes.
