1 cp sugar
few grains salt
1 cp chopped nuts
1/3 cp water
1 egg white
1 - Combine sugar, water, and salt.
2 - Boil to soft ball stage(236 degrees F.).
3 - Pour slowly, beating constantly, over stiffly beaten egg white.
4 - Beat until stiff enough to hold its shape when dropped from a spoon.
5 - Pile l;ightly on saltines.
6 - Sprinkle wiht nuts.
7 - Place on a baking sheet.
8 - Brown in slow oven (325 degrees F.).
9 - Chopped raisins may be substituted for, or used with the nuts.
