2 cps milk, scalded
2 eggs, well beaten
few grains salt
3 tbsp corn-starch
1 cp brown sugar
3/4 tsp vanilla flavoring
1 - Combine sugar, salt, and corn-starch.
2 - Add eggs.
3 - Mix thoroughly.
4 - Add milk slowly, stirring constantly.
5 - Cook over hot water until thick and smooth.
6 - Cool.
7 - Add flavoring.
8 - Pour into baked pastry shell.
9 - Serve with whipped cream.
10 - If desired, 1 tbsp caramel syrup made by caramelizing 2 tbsp sugar and dissolving in 1 tbsp water
May be added to give intensity of flavor.
