Baked Apple Dumplings
Prepare dough as for Apricot Roll. Roll in sheet 1/4 inch thick. Cut
in 4-inch squares. Place 1/3 cp thinly sliced apples on each square.
Sprinkle generously with sugar, nutmeg,and cinnamon. Dot with
butter. Moisten edges of dough. Press tightly together. Place in
baking pan. Add boiling water to half cover dumplings. Cover tops
of dumplings with 1/2 cp thinly sliced apples. Sprinkle generously with
sugar and cinnamon. Dot with butter. Bake in hot oven (425 degrees F.)
about 35 minutes. Serve with a dip made with equal proportions of
milk and cream. Sweeten to taste. Flavor with nutmeg.
