Vintage Orange or Vanilla Sauce Recipe
1 cp sugar
2 tbsp flour
1 orange rind and juice
2 cps boiling water
2 tbsp butter or butter substitute
1/4 tsp salt
1 - Combine sugar, salt, and flour.
2 - Add water slowly, stirring constantly.
3 - Cook over hot water, stirring constantly for 8 minutes.
4 - AQdd orange juice and rind, and butter or butter substitute.
5 - Stir until blended.
6 - Serve with steamed or baked puddings.
7 - For vanilla sauce, use 1 tsp vanilla flavoring instead of juice and rind of orange.
