Chocolate Caramels II
2 cps sugar
1 cp brown sugar
1/2 cp butter or butter substitute
2 cps chopped nuts
1 cp corn sirup
3 squares unsweetended chocolate
1 cp cream
1/8 tsp salt
1 tbsp vanilla flavoring
1 - Cut chocolate in small pieces.
2 - Add sugar, butter or butter substitute, salt, sirup, and cream.
3 - Cover and boil 5 minutes.
4 - Uncover.
5 - Boil slowly, stirring constantly, to firm ball stage (248 degrees F.).
6 - Remove from fire.
7 - Add flavoring and stir until blended.
8 - Pour quickly over nuts which have been placed in a well buttered pan.
9 - When cool cut in squares.
