1 egg, well beaten
1 tbsp butter or butter substitute
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp salt
3 tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 - Combine egg, butter or butter substitute, salt, sugar, and spices.
2 - Beat thoroughly.
3 - Add sifted flour to make a stiff dough.
4 - Turn onto lightly floured board.
5 - Roll in sheet 1/4 inch thick.
6 - Cut in strips 2 1/2 by 3 inches.
7 - Make 4 or 5 lengthwise gashes nearly to the ends.
8 - Run you fingers in and out of the gashes, push strips together a little, and slip
into hot fat (365 degrees F.).
9 - Fry until brown.
10 - Drain on crumpled absorbent paper.
