French Onion Soup
3 tbsp butter
2 cps thinly sliced onions
1/4 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 qt soup stock, consomme, or bouillon
4 rounds of toast
grated Parmesan cheese
1 - Melt the butter; add the sugar and onion; and pan fry until tender.
2 - Then add salt, pepper and soup stock; and simmer 30 minutes.
3 - Transfer to 4 separate soup bowls; top each with a round of toast.
4 - Sprinkle with grated cheese. Place in a very hot oven or under the
broiler until the cheese browns.
5 - Serve with additional cheese.
