Raised Rye Biscuits
2 cps rye meal
4 cps flour
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salr
2 tbsp shortening
1 1/2 cps scalded milk
1 comptressed yeast cake
1/2 cp tepid water
1 - Mix the dry ingredients; dissolve the shortening in the milk.
2 - Cool until tepid; add the yeast, dissolved in the water; and add to the
3 - Beat; cover; let rise until doubled, then form into small biscuits.
4 - Place almost touching in an oiled pan.
5 - When doubled in size, bake in a hot oven, 375 degrees for about 20 minutes
