1 qt brussels sprouts
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp butter
1 - Remove any wilted outer leaves; and wash the sprouts thoroughly in tepid salted water.
2 - Drain; place in a medium sized kettle; add sugar, salt, and boiling water to half cover.
3 - Put on the lid and boil rapidly until tender, about 30 minutes.
4 - Drain; season with the butter and a dash of pepper; and serve.
