4 medium-sized Spanish onions
3 slices bread
1/2 cp milk
1 cp chopped left-over meat
1/4 tsp salt
a few grans pepper
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp flour
4 tbsp melted savory drippings
1 - Remove the outer skins of the onions; and parboil the onions almost submerged,
ior 5 minutes in water to which have been added 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp sugar.
2 - Drain; and scoop out the centers with an apple corer.
3 - Break the bread into bits; pour over the milk; and let stand until it is absorbed.
4 - Chop the centers of the onions and combine with the bread, meat, salt, pepper, and melted butter.
5 - Fill the onions with this stuffing; and place in an oiled baking dish.
6 - Dust with flour an pour over the savory drippings. Bake in a very hot oven, 400 degrees F.
for 30 minutes, or until the onions are tender.
