1 (2 lb bunch) Swiss chard
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp butter
1 - Separate the tops from the stalks; and wash thoroughly in cold water.
2 - Shred then stalks fine; and place with the leaves in a good sized kettle.
3 - Add the sugar and salt and water to half cover.
4 - Put on a lid and steam until tender, about 30 minutes.
5 - Chop; and season with butter and a little extra salt and pepper if desired.
