1 - Put the egg whites into a bowl; and beat until stiff.
2 - Then sift in the sugar and salt. Add the flavoring and continue beating until th mixture looks glossy.
3 - Pile on top of the pie with a large spoon; place in a fairly cool oven, about 325 degrees F. and
bake 10-12 minutes when the meringue will be thoroughly set and the top tinted with gold.
