Cooked Cream Filling
1 cp milk
4 tbsp flour
6 tbsp sugar
few grains salt
1/4 tsp vanilla or other flavoring.
1 - Scald 3/4 cp milk; and thicken with the flour mixed to a smooth paste in the extra milk.
2 - Beat together the sugar, egg, and salt; and add to the milk and thickening.
3 - Cook over hot water for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4 - Cool before adding flavoring
