Fruited Pound Cake
1 1/2 cps shortening
2 cps sugar
2 2/3 cps cake flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
2 tbsp milk
1 tsp lemon extract
1 tsp almond extract
1 cp chopped raisins, figs, dates and candied peel
1 - Cream the shorteningand sugar together; add the unbeaten eggs one at a time; and beat constantly.
2 - Sift the dry ingredients together; add the fruit; and stir in the first mixture alternately with the
milk and flavoings.
3 - Turn into a well oiled and lined tube pan; and bake in an oven at 325 degrees F. about 1 hour.
4 - Decorate with ornamental icing.
