Graham Cracker Layer Cake
1/3 cp shortening
1 cp sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cps graham cracker crumbs or about 30 crackers
1/3 tsp salt
1/2 cp milk
1 - Cream the shortening; and gradually work in the sugar.
2 - Separate the eggs; and add the yolks, slightly beaten to the sugar mixture.
3 - Combine the graham cracker crumbs, baking powder, and salt and add alternately
with the milk and vanilla to the first mixture.
4 - Fold in the egg whites, whipped stiff; and transfer to 2 oiled and floured layer cake pans.
5 - Bake in a moderate oven, 375 degrees F. for 25 minutes, or until firm in the center and brown on top.
6 - Remove from the pans; and put together with White Cap Icing.
