2/3 cp shortening
1 1/3 cps sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 cps cake flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2/3 cp milk
1 - Cream the shortening until smooth; and gradually work in the sugar.
2 - Add the vanilla and the eggs, one at a time, beating until the mixture is well blended.
3 - Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt and add alternately to the mixture with the milk.
4 - Transfer to 2 oiled and floured medium-sized layer cake pans
5 - Bake in a moderately hot oven, 350 to 375 degrees F. for 25 minutes.
6 - Remove from the pans, cool and put together with cocoa cream.
7 - Cover with Mocha Icing.
