Cooked Cream Filling
1 cp milk
6 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp flour
few grains salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 - Scald the milk in the top of a double boiler.
2 - Beat the egg in a bowl; add the sugar, flour, and salt.
3 - Slowly stir the hot milk into this.
4 - Return to the double boiler; and cook until the mixture thickens, stirring frequently.
5 - When cool, add the vanilla.
