1/4 cp shortening
1 cp sugar
1/2 tsp orange extract
1/2 cp milk
1 1/2 cps cake flour
1/8 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1 - Cream the shortening. Add the sugar, eggs, well beaten the flavoring and milk.
2 - Sift the dry ingredients. Beat into the first mixture; and transfer to 2 oiled layer cake pans.
3 - Make the mixture higher at the edges than in the middle.
4 - Bake 25 to 30 minutes in a moderately hot oven, 350 to 375 degrees F.
5 - Put the layers together; and top with Fig Paste.
6 - Sprinkle the paste on the top layer with shredded cocoanut
