Ice-Box Nut Cookies
1 cp shortening
1 cp soft brown sugar
3 cps cake flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/3 tsp salt
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 cp finely chopped nuts
1 - Cream the shortening; and gradually work in the sugar
2 - Add the eggs, well beaten; and blend. Sift the dry ingredients and combine with the first mixture.
3 - Form into a roll 2"m in diameter; wrap closely in waxed paper or cellophane; and chill in the
refrigerator a few hours or until firm enough to slice.
4 - Cut in very thin slices; transfer to an oiled cookie sheet; and sprinkle with the chopped nuts.
5 - Bake in a hot oven, 375 degrees F. for 10 minutes, or until a delicate brown.
