2/3 cp sugar
3/4 cp cake flour
2/3 tsp baking powder
1/3 tsp salt
1/2 tsp aniseed extract or pounded sifted aniseed
1 - Separate the eggs; beat the yolks until light and lemon colored and the whites until stiff.
2 - Add the sugar to the yolks; and beat 3 minutes, then add the dry ingredients sifted together
andn the aniseed flavoring.
3 - Last, fold in the beaten egg whites.
4 - Turn into a well oiled shallow pan and bake in an oven at 325 degrees F. about 45 minutes.
5 - The next day, cut the bread into inch slices; dust with powdered sugar; and bake again in an
oven at 325 degrees F. until a delicate brown.
