5 tbsp shortening
1 cp sugar
1 cp flour
1 cp bran flakes
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cp chopped nuts
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 - Cream the shortening; and gradually work in the sugar.
2 - Add the egg yolks, slightly beaten; and mix until well blended.
3 - Sift the dry ingredients; add the bran flakes and chopped nuts; and work into the first mixture.
4 - Fold in the egg whites, whipped stiff, and the vanilla, and drop by a teaspoon onto an oiled cooky
sheet or shallow pan.
5 - Bake in a moderate oven, 375 degrees F. until brown.
