Chocolate Ice-Box Cookies
1 cp shortening
1 cp granulated sugar
1 1/2 squares (ounces) bitter chocolate
3 cps cake fl;our
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 - Stir together the shortening, sugar, the chocolate, which has been melted over hot water and the eggs.
2 - When fluffy, add the remaining ingredients.
3 - Let staqnd for a few moments; then shape into a long roll 2 1/2" in diameter.
4 - If desired, the dough can be formed into a loaf of equal dimensions so that when the cookies are cut
and baked they will be square.
5 - Wrap in waxed paper and keep closely covered, in the refigerator overnight or longer.
6 - Slice as thin as possible; place in oiled pans and bake in an oven at 375 degrees F. aboutm 8 minutes.
