4 cps peeled sliced apples
1 cp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cp flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 cp sugar (additional)
a few grains salt
1 egg, beaten
1 cp milk
2 tbsp melted shortening
1 - Combine the apples, sugar and cinnamon; and arrange in the bottom of an oiled baking dish or pudding pan.
2 - Sift the dry ingredients; and add the egg combined with the milk and melted shortening.
3 - Beat until the batter is smooth and free from lumps. Pour over the apples
4 - Bake in a moderate oven, 350 degrees F. for 40 minutes, or until the batter is brown on top and the apples are tender.
5 - Serve warm, plain, or with hard sauce.
