Orange Ice-Box Cake
1 cp water
1 cp sugar
2 tbsp prepard orange gelatin
1/2 cp water (additional)
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 cp orange juice
pulp 1 orange, shredded
1/2 pt heavy cream
1/4 lb marshmallows
2 dozen lady fingers or strips of left-over sponge cake
1 - Combine the sugar and the cup of water; and boil 15 minutes.
2 - Soak the gelatin in the half cup of water; add to the boiling syrup; and stirm until dissolved.
3 - Add the lemon juice; and set aside to cool.
4 - Beat the eggs until thick; and add the gelatin mixture and orange juice and pulp.
5 - Fold in the cream, whipped stiff, and the marshmallows which have been quartered.
6 - Pour into a mould or round pan lined with waxed paper and the lady fingers or left-over sponge cake.
7 - Chill in the refrigerator several hours until the filling is firm.
8 - Serve plain or with whipped cream.
