Sponge Squares with Banana Custard
2 cps milk
2 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 cp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 sliced bananas
1 square home-made or bought sponge cake
1 - Scald the milk in the top of a double boiler.
2 - Beat the egg; and combine with the cornstarch, sugar, salt and vanilla.
3 - Pour on the hot milk; return to the double boiler; and cook and stir until the mixture thickens.
4 - Remove from the heat; chill and add the sliced bananas.
5 - Cut the cake in squares; and pour over the banana custard.
