English Walnut Toffy
1 1/2 cps granulated sugar
1 1/2 cps brown sugar
1 1/2 cps white corn syrup
1 pint undiluted evaporated milk
1 tsp salt
1/2 cp butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 cp shelled walnuts
1 - Combine the sugars, corn syrup, evaporated milk and salt; and cook together until
a little when dropped in very cold water forms a hard ball.
2 - Then add the butter and cook until a little when dropped into very cold water cracks and rattles against the cup.
3 - Remove from the heat; add the vanilla and walnuts.
4 - Pour into and oiled shallow pan to a depth of 1/4".
5 - When partly cool, cur in squares or bars and wrap in waxed paper.
