Fudge Bar Cake
2 oz chocolate cut in pieces
1 cp sfted cake flour
1 cp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp soda
1/4 cp Spry
1/2 cp boliing water
1/4 cp sweet milk plus
1/2 tbsp vinegar
or 1/4 cp sour milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg, unbeaten.
1 - Put cut up chocolate in mixing bowl.
2 - Pour boiling water gradually over chocolate and stir until melted - cool.
3 - Sift flour, sugar, salt, and soda into mixing bowl containing chocolate mixture.
4 - Drop in Spry. Beat 200 strokes.
5 - Scrape bowl and spoon often throughout the entire mixing.
6 - Add milk, vanilla, and egg.
7 - Beat 100 strokes.
8 - Bake in Spry coated 8x8x2 inch pan in moderate oven 350 degrees, 35-40 minutes.
9 - Spread top of cake with fudge frosting into which 1/4 cp nuts have been stirred in just before spreading.
10 - For larger cake, double the recipe, but use 2 1/2 cps cake flour.
