Brown Velvet Cake
Measure 1 1/2 cps sfted cake flour. Sift with 1 tsp baking soda and 1/4 tsp salt
Dissolve 1 cp sugar in 1 cp sour, or buttermilk, add 1 well beaten egg
Blend in 2 squares melted unsweetened chocolate and 2 tbsp melted butter.
Add dry ingredients. Beat after each addition.
Add 1 tsp vanilla last. Turn into buttered 8X8 loaf pan. Bake 35 minutes
at 350 degrees.
(Double this recipe will make a large layer cake. I use Gold Medal
kitchen tested flour and buttermilk).
