Cream of Tomato Soup II
1 qt milk
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp salt
dash of white pepper
1/2 can strained tomatoes
2 tbsp sugar
1 1/4 tsp soda
1 - Heat 1 qt milk, or milk and water.
2 - Melt 2 tbsp butter and cook it with 2 tbsp flour, 1 tsp salt, and a dash of white pepper.
3 - Add the hot milk slowly, stirring to make a smooth white sauce.
4 - Heat 1/2 can strained tomatoes with 2 tbsp sugar; put in 1 1/4 tsp soda, and when the tomato juice has stopped bubbling,
add it slowly to the white sauce, stirring steadily. 5 - Serve immediately, very hot.
