1 - Hold onions beneath the surface in a pan of cold water while peeling them.
2 - After draining boil them in boiling salted water for 5 minutes.
3 - Then, draining them again, cover with boiling salted water again and let them
boil until they are tender but not soft enough to fall apart.
4 - Again drain; then let them heat a few minutes inn a little milk, adding seasoning
of butter, pepper and salt.
5 - Or they may be served with white sauce.
