a dozen apples
2 cps sifted flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 - After paring, coring, and quartering a dozen apples, let them cook in about 1 cp boiling water.
2 - When the apples are nearly soft enough, sweeten plentifully and add bits of butter and a little nutmeg
then drop in dumplings made as follows:
Take 2 cps sifted flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp sugar and 1/2 tsp salt. After mixing theswe ingredients, rub in
thoroughly 1 tbsp butter and stir in milk enough to make a soft dough; shape into small dumplings and let them cook
in the apple sauce about 10 minutes.
3 - Serve hot
