yolks of 4 eggs
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cp sugar
1 pint hot scalded milk
2 tbsp granulated gelatin
1 tsp vanilla
1 pint heavy cream
1 - Take the yolks of 4 eggs and 1/2 tsp salt and cream into them 1/2 cp sugar;
then pour in slowly 1 pint hot scalded milk.
2 - Let this custard stand over the fire until the eggs are set, but do not leave it
long enough to boil.
3 - As soon as it has begun to thicken, stir in well 2 tbsp granulated gelatin that has
soaked in 1/2 cp cold water until softened.
4 - After adding 1 tsp vanilla, strain the mixture and let it cool.
5 - When it has begun to set, fold in 1 pint heavy cream whipped until stiff.
6 - Let it stand in a mold to stiffen.
