baking powder biscuit dough
white of egg and water
1 - Prepare a baking powder biscuit dough with more shortening than would be used for a biscuit;
and when it has been rolled out into a sheet about 1/4" thick, cut it into squares large enough to cover an apple.
2 - Take your fruit and pare it and core it, or slice it.
3 - After placing some of the fruit in the center of the square of dough, sprinkle over the top sugar and nutmeg or cinnamon
4 - Then, when the edges of the square have been moistened with milk, or with white of egg and water,
bring the corners together at the top and press the edges together so that the juices cannot escape.
5 - Let it bake 35 minutes in a moderate oven, and serve hot with hard sauce or with sweetened cream.
