4 or 5 medium-sized Maine potatoes
1 cp shredded salt cod
1 tbsp butter
1 - Pare and sliec potatoes. Cook until tender.
2 - Drain. Put cod in a strainer and rinse with boiling water.
3 - Cook cod and potatoes in boiling water.
4 - Mash and beat until very smooth.
5 - Add butter, pepper, and egg.
6 - Drop by teaspoonfuls into very hot fat (385 degrees) and cook until light brown.
7 - Drain on soft paper. Serve with egg sauce.
