Old Fashioned Rusk
Use rexcipe for "Rolls and Bread" and after it has risen once, work down and add the following:
4 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp mace
1/2 tsp lemon extract
2 tsp cinnamon
1 - Beat well into the dough, and add 1 cp sifted flour in addition to spice, etc.
2 - Set to rise again.
3 - When doubled in bulk work down again, and set to rise for last time.
4 - Work down when doubled in bulk, place on lightly floured board, cut off
pieces of uniform size with sharp knife and put in well buttered baking pan,
brush with melted butter, mix with 1 tbsp sugar.
5 - Set to rise.
6 - When double in size, put in moderate oven, and bake about 40 minutes
