Thanksgiving Butterscotch Pie
1 cp brown sugar
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp flour
1 cp milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1 - Boil the sugar and butter together until soft.
2 - Beat the egg yolk well and add it to the flour, then add the milk.
3 - Beat this until very smooth.
4 - Combine with sugar mixture and cook until the mixture thickens.
5 - Remove from fire and add salt and flavoring.
6 - Pour into pastry lined pan and cover with a meringue made by beating the white of egg stiff and adding 1 tsp sugar.
7 - Bake in hot oven (450 degrees F.) for 10 minutes; reduce the heat to moderate (350 degrees F.) and bake 30 minutes.
