1 cp shortening (butter and lard)
1 cp brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 cp molasses
4 cps flour
1 tsp soda
1 tbsp boiling water
1 tsp ginger
pinch of salt
1 - Cream the shortening and sugar together.
2 - Add eggs and beat thoroughly.
3 - Add the molasses and baking soda which has been dissolved inb boiling water.
4 - Sift the flour and ginger together and combine with other ingredients.
5 - Mix well.
6 - Pour into well greased muffin pans and bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees F.) about 20 minutes.
