2 1/2 cps flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp shortening
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 cp warm water
5 cps sliced apples
1 cp brown sugar
1/2 cp seedless raisins
1/2 cp chopped nuts
3 tbsp melted butter
1/2 tsp cinnamon
grated rind of 1 lemon
1 - Sift the flour and salt together.
2 - Cut in the 2 tbsp shortening and add the eggs and water.
3 - Knead well then throw or beat dough against board until it blisters.
4 - Stand it in a warm place under a cloth for 20 minutes.
5 - Coveer the kitchen table waith a small white cloth and flour it.
6 - Put dough on it..
7 - Pull out with hands very carefully to thickness of tissue paper.
8 - Spread with mixture made of the sliced apples, melted butter, raisins, nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon and grated lemon rind.
9 - Fold in outer edges and roll about 4 inches wide.
10 - Bake in very hot oven (450 degrees F.) for 10 minutes, reduce heat to moderately hot oven (400 degrees F.) and continue to bake for 20 minutes.
11 - Let cool, and cut in slices about 2 inches wide.
