14 lbs pears
1 qt cider vinegar
6 lbs sugar
1 tsp whole cloves
1 tsp stick cinnamon, broken in pieces
1 - Any good preserving pear may be used.
2 - Slice and remove core or pickle whole; the latter method is preferred when Sickel pears are used.
3 - Peel pears.
4 - Put spices in a small cheesecloth bag and add to the vinegar and sugar and bring to a boil.
5 - Add pears and cook until tender.
6 - The pears will look clear when tender..
7 - Remove them with a spoon and place them in sterilized jars.
8 - Boil the syrup until it becomes thick, then pour it over the pears and seal.
